Formula One: Cybex joins Williams Martini Racing

Cybex International UK, a leading supplier of premium commercial fitness equipment, has today been announced as an Official Supplier to WILLIAMS MARTINI RACING.
The announcement was made at the opening of the new Williams Cybex Gym, a 330 m² training facility onsite at the team’s headquarters in Grove, Oxfordshire.
Home to more than 35 pieces of premium cardiovascular and strength training equipment from Cybex, the new gym will be used by Williams’ 700+ staff, including the team’s pitstop crew and drivers Felipe Massa and Valtteri Bottas when onsite at the team’s headquarters.
The gym comprises equipment from Cybex’s 700 cardio series and the new SPARC, Cybex’s self-powered resisted cardio machine which was launched in the UK last month. The gym also includes equipment from the Eagle NX and Prestige VRS selectorised strength lines, Bravo Functional Trainer, Big Iron lifting platform and a range of plate loaded, free weight and functional training equipment. Also installed were Concept2 rowers and a functional rig from Exigo.
As part of the exclusive five-year agreement, the Williams Cybex Gym will become a new UK showcase site for the fitness equipment manufacturer; Cybex will also have access to the Williams Conference Centre to host a series of dinners throughout the season.
Speaking at the launch of the new gym, Mike O’Driscoll, CEO of Williams said: “The new Williams Cybex gym we have opened today is state of the art and provides our 700 employees with a fantastic new on-site workout space. We have an extremely active workforce at Williams, and the impressive facilities Cybex have provided will ensure every member of our team has the opportunity to conveniently maintain a healthy lifestyle alongside their professional routine.”
Claire Williams, Deputy Team Principal and Commercial Director of Williams Martini Racing added: “I am delighted to present the all-new Williams Cybex gym to our employees. Cybex fitness equipment is precision engineered to produce top results for users ranging from the first-time exerciser to the professional athlete, so it was the perfect choice for us. With performance, results and innovation being key values of both brands, it makes Cybex and Williams a natural fit. This top of the range facility will have a positive impact across the group, with performance benefits particularly for our mechanics. Pitstops in modern day Formula One are complex and require the mechanics to be in peak physical condition. Our team members have thorough training regimes and this new facility will be the focal point of their fitness work going forwards when away from the track.”
Rob Thurston, commercial director at Cybex UK, said: “Williams F1 has a longstanding history of delivering fantastic results in one of the most technically competitive sports in the world. The team and the business that has been built around producing racing cars to the highest performance standards is centered around innovation, excellence, precision and world class engineering and so we are proud to partner with Williams and proud to work with an organisation that shares so many of our values.
“In working with the team at Williams we were determined to meet their requirements for the wide range of users in the gym. It’s an unusual brief to cover first time gym users, to pit lane crews to F1 drivers so the equipment was carefully selected to not only provide a state-of-the-art training facility that is accessible to Williams’ growing team at Grove but to also maximise the portfolio of equipment where athlete conditioning is of paramount importance.  We are proud of the gym we have designed and installed and excited about our new partnership with Williams and for Cybex equipment to be aligned with Williams’ commitment to delivering the very best for all their employees.”
